Two JMTA Players Find Singles Success in Paris

French-Open-Tennis-2013-logoPARIS – It’s been nothing but sunny skies for the JMTA players at the French Open Junior Championships at Roland Garros in Paris. Noah Rubin and Jamie Loeb have both successfully advanced to the second round, and will be playing again on Tuesday, June 4th.

After his successful run to the quarterfinals of the 2012 French Open Junior Championships, Noah took the court in his first round at this year’s event against Benjamin Bonzi of France. After dropping the first set, Noah successfully rallied back for a riveting three set victory, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. In his second round match, Rubin will face Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan, currently ranked in world’s top 20.

Rubin has also advanced to the second round of doubles after he and partner Martin Redlicki defeated Young Seok Kim and Seong Chan Hong of Korea, 6-0, 6-3.

Playing in her first Junior French Open this week is JMTA’s Jamie Loeb of Ossining, NY. Jamie advanced to the second round in straight sets in a well-fought match against Nina Stojanovic of Serbia. Jamie won the hour-long first set 9-7 in the tiebreaker, and went on to win the second set 6-3. Next up in the second round is a match against the event’s No. 1 seed, Ana Konjuh of Croatia.

Jamie also competed in the first round of doubles with partner Ayaka Okuno of Japan, losing 7-5, 6-4 to the No. 1 one ranked doubles team of Belinda Bencic of Switzerland and Antonia Lottner of Germany.

Both JMTA junior players will be competing on Tuesday in the second round, hoping to continue their French Open runs.
