PARIS – JMTA’s Jamie Loeb and Noah Rubin were in second round action at Stade Roland Garros on Tuesday. Both players had strong showings, but only Noah will advance to the round of 16 in singles.

Jamie Loeb played No. 1 seed, Ana Konjuh of Croatia in a could-have-gone-either-way match before losing 7-5, 6-4.  Jamie and her Coach Felix Alvarado, will be heading home to begin preparations for Wimbledon later this month.  Jamie is also expected to join the NY Sportimes of Mylan World TeamTennis as an alternate coming this July at Sportime Randall’s Island.

Noah Rubin had a routine win against a very tough player, Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan, winning 6-1, 6-4.  Next up is the No. 5 seed, Kyle Edmund from Great Britain.  Edmund defeated Noah in last year’s US Junior Open.  Noah will face Edmund on Wednesday in the round of 16 with revenge in mind.

In doubles, Rubin and partner Martin Redlicki faced the Japanese duo of Ken Onishi and Takashi Saito in a gripping three set match. Rubin and Redlicki dropped the first set 6-4, but quickly bounced back for a 6-4 second set win. Unfortunately, they were unable to keep the momentum and lost to Onishi and Saito in a 10-point supertiebreaker.
