Roehampton- JMTA junior Noah Rubin moved on to the semifinals yesterday at Roehampton with doubles partner Clement Geens of Belgium. The duo outlasted Luca Corinteli and Adrian Ortiz of Mexico in a thrilling 3rd set super tiebreaker. Facing a 7-2 deficit in the tiebreaker, Rubin and Geens rallied to win 11-9, making it the No. 6 seeded tandem’s 3rd straight super tiebreak victory.
As for singles, despite a 3rd round exit, Rubin was the last U.S. junior remaining when he was eliminated by Enzo Couacaud of France in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Although Couacaud is an excellent grass player, Rubin felt he missed out on a number of opportunities that he failed to cash in on. But the biggest opportunity lies ahead as Rubin is set to play in the semifinals for doubles today.
