Loeb Completes Record Setting Freshman Year At University Of North Carolina

While it didn’t end as hoped for with an NCAA title, freshman Jamie Loeb’s run at the University of North Carolina was a memorable one. The JMTA student and Ossining, N.Y., native lost for only the fourth time all year as Lynn Chi from California, ranked 24th nationally pulled the upset by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in Saturday’s semi-finals in Athens, Georgia. She also fell in the final eight of doubles later in the afternoon.

The All-American and NCAA Freshman of the Year helped Carolina become the only program to have multiple singles players still competing in singles and doubles in the final eight at the NCAA’s, while leading the Tar Heels to the team finals and the ACC title as well. She finished with a singles record of 50-4 on the season.

Congratulations Jamie on an amazing freshman year in Chapel Hill. You have made us all very proud!
