SPORTIME Lake Isle is lower Westchester's premier tennis destination and home to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy! NY's leading operator of tennis and sports facilities,opened a brand new $6.5 million tennis facility on the grounds of the Lake Isle Country Club in the Town of Eastchester.
SPORTIME Lake Isle features 8 indoor har-tru (green synthetic clay) tennis courts under 3 state-of-the-art air structures and a 5,000 square foot clubhouse on two levels with superior viewing. Along with its sister facility, SPORTIME Harbor Island in Mamaroneck, SPORTIME now offers 16 beautiful indoor/outdoor soft surface tennis courts in lower Westchester within 15 minutes of each other. One low-priced membership provides access to both facilities and Membership Benefits.
JMTA coaches attend certain USTA and ITF tournaments to support JMTA juniors. Individual coaching at tournaments is available to JMTA students for an additional cost. Challenge matches, invitational training camps and other special trips are offered throughout the year.

From Long Island, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx: Take your best route to the Hutchinson River Parkway and proceed north. At exit 17 turn left at light onto North Avenue. At next light, bear left to Mill Road. At next light make right onto California Road. At next light turn right on to White Plains Road. At next light, make right into Lake Isle Country Club and proceed to parking lot. From New Jersey: Tunnel to Leewood Drive. Left turn at 1st stop sign, left turn at light onto White Plains Road (rte 22). At second light make right into Lake Isle Country Club and proceed to parking lot. From Rockland and Connecticut: Take your best route to the Hutchinson River Parkway, southbound. Take exit 18W and make a right onto Mill Rd. Proceed as above. Once you're parked, walk to the entrance to the right of the golf shop and follow signs for the tennis courts.

JMTA Advisor - A JMTA coach advisor who is his/her liaison to the team of JMTA directors, coaches and other staff members, and is his/her initial contact for advice, questions, concerns, comments, etc. In addition, JMTA Advisors will provide tournament scheduling support to JMTA students upon request.
Player Development Plan - An individualized Player Development Plan, which includes an athletic performance screening, completed by his/her Player Advisor and the performance coaching staff, within the first quarter of the JMTA season. That PDP is updated, and a second athletic performance screening is conducted, to evaluate progress, identify new goals, etc., at the end of the season. In addition, directors provide on-court video analysis, with voice-over and tagging, to JMTA students. Additional video analysis services, including “Match Analytics”, are available for an additional cost.
Performance and Conditioning - Intensive group athletic training and conditioning designed to complement on-court instruction is offered to JMTA students. One-on-one training, comprehensive assessments, and other services are available for an additional cost.
Mental Toughness - Group Mental toughness training sessions, created and executed by Dr. Dom Lausic, designed to prepare JMTA players for any and all on-court situations. One-on-one sessions with Dr. Lausic are available for an additional cost.
Tournament Support and Travel Team - JMTA coaches attend certain USTA and ITF tournaments to support JMTA juniors. Individual coaching at tournaments is available to JMTA students for an additional cost. Challenge matches, invitational training camps and other special trips are offered throughout the year.
Court Time - Complimentary open court walk-on privileges are offered to all JMTA players.
SPORTIME WORLD TOUR AND WARRIOR GAMES In addition to the program detailed above, JMTA Green Ball players are invited to participate in SPORTIME World Tour and Warrior Games. The SPORTIME World Tour is our “Grand Slam” competition held at multiple SPORTIME sites each year, which allows students to compete in an age and level appropriate format. SPORTIME Warrior Games are held twice a year and reflect the competitive vision of John McEnroe. These events enhance and promote the competitive skills needed for the long-term development of our players.
Club Amenities: 8 Indoor/outdoor Har-Tru tennis courts; lounge, pro shop, locker rooms, multi-purpose room, Adult Tennis Kinetics program, Junior Tennis Kinetics program, including Ten And Under Tennis (TAUT), and MacStart, John McEnroe Tennis Academy, Adult Tennis Leagues, seasonal court time and birthday parties.

John McEnroe Founder and Director, JMTA
John McEnroe is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He held the #1 world ranking in singles for 170 weeks between 1980 and 1985, and was the #1 doubles player in the world for a record 257 weeks. He is the winner of 7 Grand Slam singles titles, including 4 US Open titles and 3 Wimbledon titles. He is also widely considered to be the greatest doubles player ever, having won 10 Grand Slam doubles titles and winning his last ATP doubles title in 2006 after a 12 year absence from the ATP Tour. He is the greatest Davis Cup player in history, and he also captained the US Davis Cup Team. John was the captain of Sportime's World TeamTennis franchise, the NY Sportimes, from 2000 to 2013, and he is an Emmy-nominated commentator for CBS, NBC, BBC, ESPN and USA. John grew up in New York City, where he graduated from the Trinity School, and later attended Stanford University, winning an NCAA team and singles title his freshman year. He continues to live in New York City, where he has raised his 6 children.
Fritz Buehning Director of Tennis / JMTA Annex Director
Fritz, a New Jersey native, has had a long and distinguished tennis career; from top junior, to successful ATP Tour Professional, achieving a career high ranking of #21 in singles and #4 in doubles before suffering a career ending foot injury at the age of 25. During his professional career, from 1979-1985, Fritz won one singles title and was a finalist in two other ATP Tour events, posting victories over top 10 players including Cash, Gerulaitis, Gilbert, Gomez, Kriek, and Wilander. As a doubles player, Fritz won 12 titles and was a finalist in 15 other events. In 1983, Fritz was the U.S. Open doubles runner up with partner Van Winitsky, losing to John McEnroe and Peter Fleming. Fritz was a top 50 USTA nationally ranked junior from the age of 10, and was the #1 ranked USTA junior in the 18s. As a college sophomore, Fritz led UCLA to the 1979 NCAA Team Championship, playing #1 singles and #1 doubles. He was the 1979 Pac10 Tennis Player of the Year and an All American. He has over 20 years experience teaching tennis and is an accredited USPTR Professional (1995), ATP Tour Teaching Professional (1995), and European Registry Professional Coach (2000).
Lawrence Kleger Director of Tennis, JMTA
A native New Yorker, Lawrence is recognized as one of the top developmental coaches in the US. He has trained more ranked juniors than anyone in the history of the USTA/Eastern Section. Lawrence is also the personal coach of Noah Rubin, who trains at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and who has been Lawrence's student since the age of 7. Noah is a top American tennis prospect reaching a career-best #14 ITF junior world ranking for boys 18 and under, #1 in U.S. Boys16 and under standings, and reaching the quarter finals of the 2012 Junior French Open. His students have won numerous National and regional Championships and 18 USTA Eastern Year-End Sportsmanship Awards. He is the Director of Tennis of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, overseeing it at its locations at Sportime Randall's Island in Manhattan, Sportime Bethpage Tennis on Long Island and Sportime Lake Isle in Westchester.

Alberto Romea Assistant Academy Director
Alberto is originally from Zaragoza, Spain, and grew up competing with Nadal, Almagro and Verdasco. He held a top 8 Spanish ranking from the age of 10 and represented Spain in 1998 Junior Davis Cup competition with compatriots Nadal and Almagro. He came to the United States as a top recruit to Auburn University - Montgomery, where he received many honors including 2006 NAIA Rookie of the Year, 2008 and 2010 NAIA Ward-Ballinger outstanding player of the year. Since graduating in 2010, Alberto has split time between earning his MBA and teaching tennis in Alabama and Massachusetts, including working with one of the top juniors in Massachusetts. Most recently, he was the assistant director of tennis at the Greenwich Country club before he joined JMTA at SPORTIME Lake Isle.
Mario Leguizamon Assistant Academy Director
Mario, a native of New York, has been a traveling coach for players competing on the ITF Junior Circuit, Futures and US Nationals levels. He has also coached All-American collegiate players along with touring pros at both the US Open and Wimbledon. Before relocating back to NY, Mario was director and co-owner of the tournament training center in Sarasota, Florida from 2010 to 2011. He has held a national ranking in both men's 30s and 35s. Mario is USPTA certified and has over 20 years of teaching experience.
Nelson Escobar Master Pro
Nelson joins us from our SPORTIME Amangansett club, where for the last few summers he has been one of the most popular pros amongst our junior and adult membership. A native of Ecuador, Nelson was a top-20 ranked junior player in his home country while training at the Andres Gomez Academy during his youth. He moved to the United States in 2004 to play for Union College in Kentucky, graduating in business/marketing and management. Nelson\'s rich college career includes two conference championships as well as several individual awards. He is a certified USPTA instructor, has been coaching throughout the Hamptons since 2005 where he eventually became the head pro at Eastside Tennis academy in Westhampton. In his short time here at the JMTA and SPORTIME Lake Isle, Nelson was promoted to master pro status for the 2013/14 season.
