SPORTIME Lake Isle features 8 indoor har-tru (green synthetic clay) tennis courts under 3 state-of-the-art air structures and a 5,000 square foot clubhouse on two levels with superior viewing. Along with its sister facility, SPORTIME Harbor Island in Mamaroneck, SPORTIME now offers 16 beautiful indoor/outdoor soft surface tennis courts in lower Westchester within 15 minutes of each other. One low-priced membership provides access to both facilities and Membership Benefits.
SPORTIME VBC provides expert private instruction for boys and
girls who are interested in receiving special one on one attention. Our
coaches evaluate the player's level and discuss what areas of the
game he or she would like to focus on. He or she then creates an
individualized lesson plan to address those goals. Private Instruction
is an excellent way to focus on specific skills, gain valuable feedback
and receive a high number of skill repetitions.

JMTA Tournament Team
JMTA coaches attend certain USTA and ITF tournaments to support JMTA juniors. Individual coaching at tournaments is available to JMTA students for an additional cost. Challenge matches, invitational training camps and other special trips are offered throughout the year.

Complimentary Tennis Court Time
Complimentary Court-Time is offered at all SPORTIME clubs, with available days/times updated monthly, and may be utilized by Bronze Level Members and above. Guests and Associates must pay applicable fees when playing with a Member. Reservations for Complimentary Member Court-Time time must be booked in person, or by phone, with the club where it is being utilized, or applicable court fees will be charged. Reservations for Complimentary Member Court-Time are accepted two (2) days (48 hours) in advance for Bronze Level Members and four (4) days (96 hours) in advance for Platinum Level and SPORTIME Plus Level Members. Applicable court-rental fees will be charged for ‘no-shows’ and for cancellations not received within 48 hours of the court booking.

Coach Advisor
A JMTA coach advisor who is his/her liaison to the team of JMTA directors, coaches and other staff members, and is his/her initial contact for advice, questions, concerns, comments, etc. In addition, JMTA Advisors will provide tournament scheduling support to JMTA students upon request.
Walk On Privileges
Complimentary open-court walk-on privileges are offered to all current JMTA players and reservations are accepted 6 (six) hours in advance, except on Weekends and Holidays from 8:00am to 1:00pm, when reservations are accepted 1 (one) hour in advance. Reservations for JMTA Student walk-on court-time must be booked in person, or by phone, with the club where it is being utilized, or applicable court fees will be charged. Parents and others must pay applicable fees, based on Membership status, when playing with a JMTA student.
Player Development Plan
An individualized Player Development Plan, which includes an athletic performance screening, completed by his/her Player Advisor and the performance coaching staff, within the first quarter of the JMTA season. That PDP is updated, and a second athletic performance screening is conducted, to evaluate progress, identify new goals, etc., at the end of the season. In addition, directors provide on-court video analysis, with voice-over and tagging, to JMTA students. Additional video analysis services, including “Match Analytics”, are available for an additional cost.
Performance and Conditioning
Intensive group athletic training and conditioning designed to complement on-court instruction is offered to JMTA students. One-on-one training, comprehensive assessments, and other services are available for an additional cost.
Mental Toughness
Group Mental toughness training sessions, created and executed by Dr. Dom Lausic, designed to prepare JMTA players for any and all on-court situations. One-on-one sessions with Dr. Lausic are available for an additional cost.
Tournament Support and Travel Team

Junior Walk On Privileges - SPORTIME U10 and Under

John McEnroe Founder and Director, JMTA
John McEnroe is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He held the #1 world ranking in singles for 170 weeks between 1980 and 1985, and was the #1 doubles player in the world for a record 257 weeks. He is the winner of 7 Grand Slam singles titles, including 4 US Open titles and 3 Wimbledon titles. He is also widely considered to be the greatest doubles player ever, having won 10 Grand Slam doubles titles and winning his last ATP doubles title in 2006 after a 12 year absence from the ATP Tour. He is the greatest Davis Cup player in history, and he also captained the US Davis Cup Team. John was the captain of Sportime's World TeamTennis franchise, the NY Sportimes, from 2000 to 2013, and he is an Emmy-nominated commentator for CBS, NBC, BBC, ESPN and USA. John grew up in New York City, where he graduated from the Trinity School, and later attended Stanford University, winning an NCAA team and singles title his freshman year. He continues to live in New York City, where he has raised his 6 children.
Fritz Buehning Director of Tennis / JMTA Annex Director
Fritz, a New Jersey native, has had a long and distinguished tennis career, from top junior, to successful ATP Tour Professional, achieving a career high ranking of #21 in singles and #4 in doubles before suffering a career ending foot injury at the age of 25. During his professional career, from 1979-1985, Fritz won one ATP singles title and was a finalist in two other ATP Tour events, posting victories over top 10 players including Cash, Gerulaitis, Gilbert, Gomez, Kriek, and Wilander. As a doubles player, Fritz won 12 titles and was a finalist in 15 other events. In 1983, Fritz was the U.S. Open doubles runner up with partner Van Winitsky, losing to John McEnroe and Peter Fleming. Fritz was a top-50 USTA nationally ranked junior from the age of 10, and was the #1 ranked USTA junior in the 18s. As a college sophomore, Fritz led UCLA to the 1979 NCAA Team Championship, playing #1 singles and #1 doubles. He was the 1979 Pac10 Tennis Player of the Year and an All American. Fritz has over 20 years of experience teaching and coaching tennis and joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2007.
Lawrence Kleger Director of Tennis, JMTA
A native New Yorker, Lawrence is recognized as one of the top developmental coaches in the US. He has trained more ranked juniors than anyone in the history of the USTA/Eastern Section. Lawrence is also the personal coach of Noah Rubin, who trains at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and who has been Lawrence's student since the age of 7. Noah is a top American tennis prospect reaching a career-best #14 ITF junior world ranking for boys 18 and under, #1 in U.S. Boys16 and under standings, and reaching the quarter finals of the 2012 Junior French Open. His students have won numerous National and regional Championships and 18 USTA Eastern Year-End Sportsmanship Awards. He is the Director of Tennis of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, overseeing it at its locations at Sportime Randall's Island in Manhattan, Sportime Bethpage Tennis on Long Island and Sportime Lake Isle in Westchester.
Carlos Campo Regional GM, Westchester Clubs
Carlos, originally from Maracay, Venezuela, reached a top-6 national ranking in Venezuela as a junior in Boys 18s. He went on to play at Campbell University, where he majored in Sports Management and Business. After college, Carlos played on the pro tour before transitioning into coaching. Carlos has coached and trained junior and adult players, form beginners to nationally ranked players. He joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2009 and currently SPORTIME’s Regional General Manager for Westchester.
Josep Baro Assistant GM/Tennis Coordinator/Director Pro/Fitness Director
Josep, a native of Spain, played 4 years for Campbell University on a tennis scholarship after which he served as graduate assistant head coach for the Men’s and Women’s team. He works with player of all ages and levels including, most recently, with WTA Tour, world No. 11, Carla Suarez Navarro. He joined Sportime in 2013, worked for a year, left to complete his MBA, and rejoined SPORTIME/JMTA in May 2016.
Marcio, originally from Taubate – Sao Paulo, Brazil, graduated in a Master’s degree in Sport Management from Manhattanville College where he also worked as assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. Marcio was recognized for his performance both on and off the field when he received the President’s Honor Roll by Heartland Conference (NCAA Division II – Athletic & Academic Excellence) in 2012-2013. He is a U10 certified coach and currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in International Management. He joined Sportime/JMTA in 2016.
Alberto Romea Assistant Academy Director
Alberto hails from Zaragoza, Spain, and grew up competing with players such as Nadal, Almagro and Verdasco. He held a top-8 Spanish ranking from the age of 10 and represented Spain in 1998 Junior Davis Cup competition alongside compatriots Nadal and Almagro. He came to the United States as a top recruit to Auburn University, where he was 2006 NAIA Rookie of the Year, and the 2008 and 2010 NAIA Ward-Ballinger Outstanding Player of the Year. Alberto also won National Championships at Auburn in 2008 and 2010, finishing his NCAA career ranked number 1 in the Nation singles and doubles. Alberto earned his MBA in International Business at Auburn in 2013, with honors. Before joining the SPORTIME/JMTA coaching staff in 2013, he was the Assistant Director of Tennis at the Greenwich Country.
Mario Leguizamon Assistant Academy Director
Mario, a native of New York, has been a traveling coach for players competing on the ITF Junior Circuit, as well as coaching pros and amateurs at the Futures and US Nationals levels. He has also coached All-American collegiate players and touring pros at both the US Open and Wimbledon. He has held national rankings in both Men's 30s and 35s. Mario has over 20 years of teaching and coaching experience and joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2011.
Eric Stone Assistant Director Junior Development/Video Analysis/Master Pro
Eric, originally from Connecticut, held a USTA junior ranking of #97 nationally and #4 in the New England section. He went on to receive a scholarship to the Division I powerhouse, University of Hawaii, where he played #3 singles and #1 doubles, and was ranked among the nation’s top 100 NCAA players and earned a degree in English Literature. After college, he was a traveling coach on the ATP tour from 2008-10. Eric has developed numerous top college players, including two that were awarded full scholarships to top-30 Division I programs. Eric has over 15 years of coaching experience and joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2010.
Nelson Escobar Master Pro
Nelson, a native of Ecuador, was a top-20 ranked junior player in his home country while training at the Andres Gomez Academy. He moved to the United States in 2004 to play for Union College in Kentucky, where he won two conference championships and the Most Improved Player of the Year Award. He graduated with a degree in business/marketing and management and made the Dean’s List in 2007-08. Nelson joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2012 and has over 10 years of teaching and coaching experience.
Alima Mohammad Senior Pro
Alima hails from Ghana, West Africa, where she became a member of the national team at the age of 7. During her junior career, she received a scholarship from the ITF Team to participate in tournaments across Africa and Europe. Her she achieved an ITF junior world ranking of No. 65 in the world, and she was a member of Ghana’s Federation Cup team between the ages 17-19. Alima also received Ghana’s athlete of the year award 5 times! She attended the City College of New York and received a B.A in Fitness & Nutrition. Alima joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2009.
Francisco Javi Garcia Redondo Senior Pro
Javi, originally from Spain, attended the Manuel Orantes tennis academy in Barcelona, Spain, where he trained with Wawrinka and won the national championship at age 14. He moved to the United States in 2005 to play for Auburn University, where he earned his B.A in Business Management. At AUM Javi was ranked as high as #3 in the nation singles and #1 in doubles, and his team won the NAIA national championship in 2008. While completing his MBA at AUM, he was Assistant Coach of the AUM Women's team, coaching them to a National Championship and being honored as Regional Assistant Coach of the Year. Javi joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2013.
Nei Dos Santos Senior Pro
Nei, originally from Florianopolis, Brazil, was ranked in the top 30 during his junior career. Nei played college tennis at Cowley County Community College in Kansas where he was selected All-American and finished the year ranked 3rd in the nation in doubles. 2014 he graduated from Newman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration while playing the number one position in both singles and doubles. While attaining his Master’s degree at Newman University he was the Graduate Assistant for both men’s and women’s tennis teams. Nei joined JMTA in 2018.
Alex Davis Staff Pro/USTA Tournament Director
Alex is a native of Chappaqua, NY and a graduate of Drew University. He is USPTA Certified Professional and enjoys teaching players of all levels. Alex joined SPORTIME/JMTA in 2017.
