JMTA’s Jamie Loeb, a freshman at the University of North Carolina, has been named the top seed in this week’s USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships beginning Thursday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows. Jamie says that “I feel confident going into the tournament and believe I can win it. I’m going to use the same mentality that I had going into All-Americans, which was focusing on one match at a time and not looking too far ahead.” Jamie’s JMTA Coach, Felix Alvarado, says “This tournament is like a homecoming for Jamie. Lots of family and friends will be in attendance cheering her on. She’s going to feed off of their energy and fight hard to win the tournament. I am excited to watch her play as I rarely get to see her in action now that she is playing for UNC. And I know she is excited to come back to New York and play in front of the same people who cheered her on throughout her junior tennis career.”

“The USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships begin Thursday… in New York. The draws have not yet been released, but the ITA preview has the names of the top five seeds in singles as well as the four doubles seeds.
Women’s defending champion Robin Anderson of UCLA is the No. 2 seed this year, which gives an indication how strong the women’s field is. All-American champion Jamie Loeb of North Carolina is the top seed, and understandably so, as she defeated Anderson in the Riviera final.”
The Championships begin Thursday, November 7th. For draws, tournament news, updates, and more, you can either keep up with the blog or click here for the ITA tournament web page.
