JMTA alum and current University of North Carolina standout Jamie Loeb won three rounds to qualify at the USTA Women’s $25K Plantation Community Tennis Open Challenger at the Frank Veltri Tennis Center in Plantation, Florida.
Loeb topped Kim-Alice Grajked, 6-2, 1-0 ret., No. 14 seed Jan Abaza, 6-1, 7-5, and Maria Shiskhina, 6-4, 6-4, to earn the spot in the main draw, which continues through Sunday.
Loeb’s first-round main draw matchup is with Arantxa Rus of The Netherlands at 10 a.m. ET Wednesday. Rus is currently ranked at No. 244. Loeb is at No. 575 entering this event.
Last year, Loeb posted a 53-4 overall singles record, including 31-2 in dual matches and 14-0 in ACC, to place as the Nation’s top-ranked women’s tennis player.
