After Sam Querrey and John Isner gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead on the first day of play, Brazil came storming back with a doubles win over the top ranked doubles team in the world (Bob and Mike Bryan) and a 4th round singles win in which Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci defeated Isner in 5 sets.
With the score tied 2-2 going into the 5th round, Querrey saved the United States’ Davis Cup chances with a 4 set win over Brazil’s Thiago Alves. Up next, the Americans will take on number 1 in the world, Novak Djokovic and the rest of the favored Serbian team in the Davis Cup Quarter-Finals. This match and the rest of the Quarter-Final matches will take place in early April (4/5 – 4/7).
