SPORTIME Amagansett Guidelines

We have created the following policies and guidelines for SPORTIME Amagansett, to be followed until further notice, designed to ensure the safest, smoothest, tennis experience for members and staff during this challenging time.  These guidelines, and our Company-wide guidelines, will be updated on an ongoing basis, as we receive new information and directives from governmental and other health agencies and organizations, and based on our experience navigating this “new normal”.  While some might view certain protocols as overly cautious, SPORTIME may choose to maintain them, in spite of prevailing guidance, if they make our members, customers and/or staff feel safer and more comfortable.

Our goal is to provide unlimited tennis to our members, on the most beautiful courts in the world, as always; not to create a lot of rules and restrictions.  However, to assure distancing, and to eliminate congregation and waiting, we must temporarily install a court reservation system that allows our members to book a court, to arrive just before their designated court-time, to play, and to leave.  To achieve this new, distanced, experience, many things are changing from the way we have done things since 1989.  Most, if not all of these changes, should be reversed in the coming months, but, for now, we ask that you review these guidelines very carefully, follow them without fail, and reach out to us at any time with questions, or for assistance.

Notwithstanding all the precautions that SPORTIME will take, due to the nature of the virus, the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains, as we are all aware.  Please be safe, respect others and follow all of the precautions, protections and protocols put in place during this COVID-19 epidemic.

Club General Safety Guidelines

  • Do not come to the club if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC, or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • All members and guests MUST wear a face mask when arriving and departing and when on club grounds and not playing, or whenever physical distancing cannot be achieved.
  • All members must maintain six feet of physical distance from all other members and staff at all times, even on the tennis court.
  • No drinking water or food service is available until further notice, so please bring personal water or snacks with you.
  • For both court-time and lessons, players are asked to enter their assigned court only once it has been vacated by other players.  There should never be more than four players and a coach on any court, and courtesy and common sense must prevail at all times.
  • Players are encouraged to not change sides or, if they choose to change sides, to do so on opposite sides of the court, around opposite net posts.
  • Every court has hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes available.

Club Tennis Rules & Guidelines

  • Singles play and doubles play, and lessons/programs with no more than two players per side, per court, are allowed.
  • Private and group lessons (on-site and off-site) are available 8am-6pm, 7 days a week (a 48-hour cancellation policy applies).
  • All member play, including court-time and lessons, must be booked in advance by telephone (631-267-3460) or by email (
  • Court-time is offered, by reservation, in 60-min blocks for singles and 90-min blocks for doubles, from 8am-6pm, 7 days a week.
  • Members may book courts up to 5-days in advance and may book one session per day in advance.  Each booking must have at least two active member names associated with it, or a member’s name and a member guest name, with a completed guest waiver (click here for link).
  • Members may book an additional daily hour, subject to availability, on the same day as play, starting at 8am, for a maximum of two hours total per day, per member (always with another member or guest).
  • If courts remain available, additional same-day reservations are allowed on a first-come-first-served basis, as is continuing play when the subsequent hour has not been booked.
  • Cancellations/changes allowed until 24-hours prior to booking time; late cancellations and no-shows are charged $25/person.
  • Member Guests are welcome at a rate of $40 for morning play and $30 for afternoon play. As always, each guest is limited to three visits per season. All guests must now sign waivers (personal info must be captured, for contact tracing if necessary) before coming to the club (click here for link) or register on the MYSPORTIME app.
  • While the most recent CDC guidance appears to indicate that transmission of the virus from surfaces is unlikely, in an abundance of caution, we recommend that each player provide his/her own can/s of balls and personalize them clearly, or take note of their unique numbers, as long as the numbers are not the same as the other player’s ball numbers. Players should serve or start a rally using their own balls, and should avoid touching balls that do not have their marks; instead they should use their rackets to roll or send the balls to their playing partners. Balls and personalizing supplies are available at the club.

Club Restrictions

  • While the pro shop, bathrooms and cafe ARE CLOSED until further notice, if you would like to purchase balls, or any pro-shop items, or drop off rackets for stringing, please contact us in advance and we will make these items available for court-side pick-up.  If you would like us to mark purchased balls with players’ initials, to assist in proper ball hygiene, let us know and doing so will be our pleasure.
  • Essential staff, including management and facility maintenance teams, are on-site to make sure that the club remains safe and actively maintained at all times. We are also making sure that all distancing and sanitary protocols are followed by all players and by all staff members at all times.
  • Please do not leave any equipment on the court as it will be thrown away.
  • We also ask that you please limit your social time at the club until further notice. New York is still under a stay-in-place and public gatherings are still not allowed.
