SPORTIME Bethpage Multi-Sport/VBC Guidelines

We have created the following policies and guidelines for SPORTIME Bethpage Multi-Sport, to be followed until further notice, designed to ensure the safest, smoothest, volleyball (and other team sports) experience for members and staff during this challenging time.

Notwithstanding all the precautions that SPORTIME will take, due to the nature of the virus, the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains, as we are all aware.  Please be safe, respect others and follow all of the precautions, protections and protocols put in place during this COVID-19 epidemic.

Club General Safety Guidelines

  • Do not come to the club if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC, or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • Players and guests will be asked to use the main entrance for entering only and to use designated exits to leave the facility.
  • All members and guests MUST wear a face mask or face covering when arriving and departing our facility and while in our facility and not playing, or whenever physical distancing cannot be achieved.
  • There will be protective glass at the front desk to maintain safety for staff and members/guests when requiring service.
  • Our drinking fountains will be temporarily out of service, but we have installed a touchless water bottle filler for those who bring their own water bottles. Bottled water will be also available for purchase.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be available on every volleyball court as well as common areas throughout the facility.
  • Viewing chairs and bleachers will be removed for the time being.

Club Multi-Sport Restrictions

  • Our Multi-Sport courts and rinks will be available for use by members and guests, but team sports activities must adhere to the following NYS Sports and Recreation Guidelines:
  • Authorized team sports activities include: basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, roller hockey, soccer, baseball, flag football, field hockey and lacrosse.
  • All team sports activities must consist of small group training and modified play where proper physical distancing can be achieved.
  • This following types of activities are permitted:
    • Individual or distanced group training or activities
    • Organized no/low-contact group training (e.g. sport camps and clinics)
  • The following types of activities are not permitted:
    • Competitive team practices
    • Games, meets, matches, scrimmages (e.g. organized leagues, pick-up sports)
    • Competitive tournaments with multiple games, meets, matches, or scrimmages.
  • Following all sports clinics, camps and private training provided by SPORTIME, sports equipment will be sanitized.
  • Any individual or group members that rent a Multi-Sport court for team sports play must provide their own equipment.
  • All rental group participants will be required to complete a SPORTIME guest form upon entry in order to participate in team sports activities.

Club Volleyball Guidelines

  • Instructional programs and modified game play will be offered to reduce the number of players on the court at one time.  All players waiting to step onto the court will wait in designated and clearly marked areas, at least 6 feet apart.
  • Our program capacities will be reduced to ensure safety and we will offer additional training sessions to accommodate as many players as possible.
  • Players will store their personal belongings on the outskirts of their court to avoid creating common areas, or clustered belongings, between the rinks.
  • Volleyballs will be wiped down with sanitizing solution before and after each training session.
  • Private lessons will be available throughout the week, during the days and evenings (with a 48-hour cancellation policy).

Daily Health Screenings of Players and Staff

  • All camp staff will be screened upon their arrival each morning. This will include an online self-assessment and a temperature check. Any staff member exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, either upon arrival, or at any point during the camp day, will be sent home, and will need to be symptom free and test negative for the virus before returning.
  • Per NYS mandate, all camp parents will be required to complete a quick, online health screening for their child(ren) in advance of their arrival at camp each day, which will, in most cases, allow them to proceed directly to an expedited drop-off area. At that drop-off area, campers' temperatures will be taken by Sportime staff using point and shoot thermometers, and those campers whose temperatures are less than 99.5% will be able to exit their cars and be escorted to their groups. Those campers whose temperatures are 99.5% or higher will be sent home, and the Camp Director or Camp Health Director will follow up with further instructions. Parents who are unable to complete the screening in advance of their arrival at Sportime will be directed to a waiting area, where they will complete the screening, after which their child/ren's temperatures will be taken, and they will begin their camp day. Any camper exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, either upon arrival, or at any point during the camp day, will be sent home, and will need to be symptom free and test negative for the virus before returning.
  • Parents must keep campers home if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Any other signs of illness
  • Our Camp Director reserves the right to send campers and staff members home should they exhibit any of the above symptoms.

Program Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

  • Each program will have a designated time and location for daily drop-off and pick-up
  • Campers/Players will have their temperatures taken by camp staff while still inside their cars with parents or caregivers. Adults are asked to remain in their cars, so that members of our camp team can greet campers and escort them to their designated group areas.
