SPORTIME Camp Guidelines

SPORTIME’s commitment to creating a happy and safe environment for your children has guided our work for more than 30 years. Our children’s camps are places where every camper can have fun, make friends, learn, and create lifelong memories.

In the context of COVID-19, our focus remains the health and wellbeing of our campers, our camp families and our staff. Please see our guidelines for summer 2022, which are based on current state and local government guidance, and on our own experience and common sense.

  • I/My player/camper(s) has not experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 10 days:
    • Fever of 100.4° or above
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Any other signs of illness
  • I/My player/camper(s) have/has not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
  • I/My player/camper(s) have/has not been in close contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 10 days, or, I/my player(s) have/has been in contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the past 10 days, but I/my player(s) am/is fully vaccinated and boosted if eligible,, or have/has recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months, and am/is asymptomatic.
  • If an employee/parent/guardian is not able to confirm the statements above, then such person(s) should not come to a SPORTIME club, and should contact the Camp Director immediately for further instructions.
  • Any staff member or player/camper exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, either upon arrival, or at any point during the camp day, will be sent home.
  • Any staff member or player/camper who reports/exhibits COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test immediately, so that if the test result is positive,
  • SPORTIME can contact trace and take steps to protect against further spread.
Staff members or players/campers who have symptoms but test negative for COVID-19, may return to work/camp as soon as they are symptom free, and upon providing the negative test results to SPORTIME.

Isolation/Quarantine Protocols

  • Players/Campers or staff who test positive for COVID-19 must be excluded from camp for at least 5 days. Those who test positive for COVID-19 while at camp must be isolated from other campers/staff until picked up. Players/ Campers or staff who have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 10 days, and who are not fully vaccinated, and boosted if eligible, and who have not recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days, must also be excluded from camp for at least 5 days.
  • For campers and staff who have to isolate, due to infection or exposure, isolation may end after 5 full days if the individual is fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and if other symptoms have improved, and upon presentation of a negative antigen test on day 5. Campers or staff must continue to mask upon return from isolation during days 6 through 10 after a COVID-19 infection or contact event.
  • Asymptomatic exposed or potentially exposed campers and staff, who have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the past 10 days, but who are fully vaccinated, and boosted when eligible, or who have  recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days, and who continue to attend camp, must mask for 5-10 days and should follow recommended testing as described below:
    • Test immediately upon learning of the exposure or potential exposure.
    • Test on day 3, 4, or 5 after exposure is strongly recommended to detect infection among individuals identified as exposed or potentially exposed, regardless of vaccination status.

Use of Face Coverings

  • Unvaccinated SPORTIME camp staff are encouraged to wear face coverings indoors when not on-court or when eating and drinking, and to maintain adequate distance from campers.
  • We know that some may wish to go more slowly, and to continue to mask or distance for a while longer. We will, of course, respect and support the personal choices of our community members, and work closely with players, campers, parents or staff who have particular concerns or needs.

Transportation

The following protocols are followed at all times on SPORTIME buses or vans:

  • Protective face coverings are to be worn by drivers and campers, regardless of vaccination status; no exceptions.
  • Windows remain partially or fully open during transport; players should dress accordingly.
  • PlexiGlass has been installed between seat rows.

Hygiene Practices

  • Frequent hand washing and sanitizing will be encouraged. Hand washing and/or hand sanitizing will be required throughout the camp day, including before and after snack breaks, water breaks and lunch.
  • Our camp cleaning team will disinfect all high touch areas, both indoors and outdoors, throughout the camp day.
  • At the conclusion of each day, our repair, maintenance and housekeeping teams will follow enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure that every camp area, inside and outside, is sanitized for the following day.
