SPORTIME Schenectady Guidelines

The following policies and guidelines will be in effect at SPORTIME Schenectady until further notice in order to ensure the safest, smoothest, experience for members and staff during this challenging time.  These guidelines, and our Company-wide guidelines, will be updated on an ongoing basis, as we receive new information and directives from governmental and other health agencies and organizations, and based on our experience navigating this “new normal”. While some might view certain protocols as overly cautious, SPORTIME may choose to maintain them, in spite of prevailing guidance, if they make our members, customers and/or staff feel safer and more comfortable. Most, if not all of these changes, should be reversed in the coming weeks and months, but, for now, we ask that you review these guidelines very carefully, follow them without fail, and reach out to us at any time with questions, or for assistance.  

Notwithstanding all the precautions that SPORTIME will take, due to the nature of the virus, the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains, as we are all aware.  Please be safe, respect others and follow all of the precautions, protections and protocols put in place during this COVID-19 epidemic.  



Club General Safety Guidelines

  • Do not come to the club if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC, or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • All members and guests MUST wear a face covering when arriving and departing and when on club grounds and not playing, or whenever physical distancing cannot be achieved.
  • All members must maintain six feet of physical distance from all other members and staff at all times, even on the tennis court.
  • For both court-time and lessons, players are asked to enter their assigned court only once it has been vacated by other players. Courtesy and common sense must prevail at all times.
  • Players are encouraged to change sides on opposite sides of the court, around opposite net posts.
  • Every court has hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes available.

Club Tennis Rules & Guidelines

  • Singles play and doubles play, and lessons/programs/camp are allowed.
  • Private and group lessons are available 8:00am-7:30pm, 7 days a week (a 48-hour cancellation policy applies). To inquire about private or group lessons, please email Director of Tennis, Philippe Ceas, at
  • Court-time is being offered, by reservation online or over the phone, in 30 to 90 min blocks, from 8:00am-7:30pm, 7 days a week. To reserve court-time online, or to view your account activity, please use the free MYSPORTIME app. For assistance using the app, and to access your account login, please email Membership Director, Nico Caprara, at
  • Members may book courts up to one week in advance, one court at a time.  Each booking must have two active member names associated with it, or a member’s name and a member guest name, with a completed guest waiver form (click here for link).
  • Member Guests are welcome at a rate of $40 per hour of play, with court fees charged to the Member's account. All guests must sign waiver forms before coming to or upon arriving at the club (click here for link) or register on the MYSPORTIME app.
  • If courts remain available, additional same-day reservations can be made on a first-come-first-served basis, and continuing play is allowed when an hour subsequent to the time reserved has is open.
  • Junior Walk-On privileges are temporarily suspended, to discourage waiting around for open courts. Junior members are allowed to book court time in advance.
  • Cancellations/changes are allowed until 24-hours prior to court time bookings; late cancellations and no-shows will be charged $20/person.
  • Your court time and court number will be confirmed on a board located at an outdoor reception station.
  • Personal belongings on court should be placed 6 or more feet away from other player(s).
  • While the most recent CDC guidance appears to indicate that transmission of the virus from surfaces is unlikely, in an abundance of caution, we recommend that each player provide his/her own can/s of balls and personalize them clearly, or take note of their unique numbers, as long as the numbers are not the same as the other players' ball numbers. Players should serve or start a rally using their own balls, and should avoid touching balls that do not have their marks; instead they should use their rackets to roll or send the balls to their playing partners. Balls and personalizing supplies are available at the club.
  • No demo or loaner rackets will be provided at this time.
  • Please sweep and clean your court after play, and then disinfect the equipment. Staff is frequently disinfecting the brooms and line sweepers. If you are unable to sweep and clean your court, advise a staff member prior to play so arrangements can be made.

Club Restrictions

  • Our outdoor tennis courts are open, and our indoor courts will reopen on July 6th. 
  • The outdoor pool bathrooms are open, for a maximum of 2 users at one time, and the indoor bathrooms will reopen on July 6th.
  • The pro shop is open, and if you would like to purchase balls, or any other pro-shop items, or drop off rackets for stringing, please contact us in advance and we will make these items available for court-side pick-up.  If you would like us to mark purchased balls with players’ initials, to assist in proper ball hygiene, let us know and doing so will be our pleasure.
  • The fitness center remains closed, and will reopen when authorization is received from NYS.
  • Staff, including management and facility maintenance teams, are on-site to make sure that the club remains safe and actively maintained at all times. We are also making  sure that all distancing and sanitary protocols are followed by all players and by all staff members at all times.  
  • Please do not leave any equipment on the court as it will be thrown away.
  • We ask that you please limit your social time at the club until further notice.
