Eager Explorers Daycare at SPORTIME Schenectady

Preschoolers Ages 3-5

Welcome to Eager Explorers at SPORTIME - we are glad you’re here! We are a small daycare, licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), located within SPORTIME Schenectady, a family-oriented tennis and sports club. Eager Explorers is designed to serve preschool age children - our focus is on, and our expertise is in, their age-appropriate play, learning, development and FUN. Our small class sizes and low student-to-teacher ratios allow for individual needs to be met within the classroom setting. We offer a diverse and comprehensive curriculum, as detailed below. Our goal is to get your kids to love coming to “school”, and to be ready for their next steps in their educational journeys and as members of future school communities.

Our commitment is to make Eager Explorers a home away from home for your children; a place where they can be free to explore, play and learn, with our guidance, in the ways that are best suited to them. Your children will be active participants in the daily operation of the classroom. In our caring community environment, students are encouraged to take leadership roles in their spaces. This creates a positive atmosphere and allows each child’s true potential to shine.

What Parents are Saying...

"This daycare is exactly what our energetic almost 4 year old needs. Many daycares around here are simply too small. They are not able to allow enough space for the gross motor play a toddler’s developmental needs require during these cold winter months. Why is this place different? This daycare is in a tennis fitness facility allowing access to indoor courts where he is learning tennis, basketball and other sports. What a fresh, progressive idea! They have an outdoor playground and play area as well.  Teachers here are compassionate, caring and organized; communicating daily regarding progress in literacy, math, science, creative arts, gross motor skills and social skills. In addition we receive a weekly newsletter allowing us to provide support at home. Ms. Brie and Ms. Megan follow New York State Curriculum for early childhood education. I think I am most impressed with the way our son is beginning to self-regulate his emotions thanks to their emphasis on social emotional learning. I write this review not just as a parent but as a National Board Certified teacher who works with young children daily. These ladies have their acts together!"

- Lisa Bradley, son age 3

"We've been there for about 2 years now. The communication between staff and families is excellent. The staff themselves is excellent. The room is nice, there is a lot of space and they do a lot of activities."

 - Jason Petrucci, son age 7 & daughter age 5

"Both of my kids have attended summer camp there the last 2 years in a row. All of the counselors seem happy and eager to play with the kids. We've had no issues. It's hard as it is to find childcare in general and we feel very safe with our children there."

- Tiffany Friguletto, son age 8 & daughter age 5

This place is amazing! It’s so nice to see our son excited to go to school and come home every day with a smile on his face. The staff is amazing and so understanding. The teachers really make an effort to engage the children and set them up for success. The small class size is a huge plus at this age because they are able to pay more individualized attention to each child. The hours are great and the facility is gorgeous. There is so much room for gross motor activities and the teachers make sure to incorporate a lot of activity into the day. I’ve seen improvements in my son academically and behaviorally already!

- Zahia Abdella, parent of 3.5 year old student
