Juan Zabala

Juan, originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, began playing tennis at the age of five. He was the junior National Champion in Ecuador in every age division, from B10 to B18. Juan earned his first ATP point in 2016 and achieved a #79 ITF junior world ranking, winning five ITF junior singles titles and six ITF junior doubles titles. Beginning in 2020, he attended East Tennessee State University, where he played on the men’s tennis team. In his second season, he was named First Team All-Conference in doubles and Second Team All-Conference in singles, compiling a 24-6 singles record and 16-10 doubles record. Juan transferred to the University of Memphis in 2022, where he helped the men’s tennis team qualify for the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis National Championships in 2023. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UM, and joined the SPORTIME/JMTA team in 2024.
